Chimney Sweeping / Chimney Cleaning

Regular cleaning and inspection of your chimney is the best way to maximize your chimney investment while ensuring peace of mind wood burning comfort. It provides for the brushing of your flu or chimney to remove loose debris and soot while also ensuring there are no unexpected blockages (animal nests, branches, etc..).

At Klean Sweep Chimney Services, we take great pride in our work to make sure you’re ready for the wood burning season without unexpected surprises. Our experienced staff will perform a visual inspection of the chimney system to help assess your burning efficiency as well as carefully ensuring your rain cap is performing properly. We”ll then brush your chimney using a series of flexible rods and brush heads, paying careful attention to the soot, creosote and debris which provides further information as to your systems operation.

We can also provide repair services to your chimney system if required.

Chimney Sweeping - How Often?

It’s the most common question we’re asked. Aside from proper system installation and the performance of your brand of wood stove, airtight or fireplace and chimney, the single biggest contributor to burning efficiency is the quality of your firewood and the techniques used by the home or cottage owner.

Firewood requires proper drying or ‘seasoning’ after it’s been cut and split. It should be stored to enable air flow while being protected from rain. Ensuring you have seasoned wood is vital to wood heating safety. Burning ‘green’, unseasoned, wet wood or periods of smoldering fires can quickly accumulate creosote within your chimney which can result in chimney fires. Other factors include how often and how much you use your wood burning system. However, for most cottage and home owners, annual chimney servicing is the best way to ensure you’re ready for the season ahead. And while many owners leave servicing to the Fall, it’s best to remove any creosote and debris as soon as possible as it can be very corrosive and cause damage to your chimney system.
